1. Overview
TopShipped ("we", "our", or "us") operates the TopShipped platform at topshipped.com — a showcase for indie founders and their products. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. By using TopShipped you agree to this policy.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account information
When you sign in with Google or create an account with email and password, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture. We use this to identify you, display your founder profile, and send transactional emails (e.g. password resets).
2.2 Profile data you provide
You may optionally provide a username, bio, website URL, Twitter/X handle, GitHub URL, and LinkedIn URL. This information is displayed publicly on your founder profile.
2.3 Project listings
When you submit a project, we store the project name, description, screenshots, website URL, revenue data, and any other information you provide. Project listings are public by default.
2.4 Payment provider API keys
To enable automatic revenue syncing, you may connect a payment provider (Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, etc.) by providing a read-only API key. These keys are stored securely in our database and used solely to fetch your subscription MRR data. We never use them to initiate charges or access customer data.
2.5 Analytics events
We record anonymous view and click events on project listing pages, including a normalised referrer hostname (e.g. "twitter.com" or "direct"). We do not store IP addresses or set tracking cookies. This data is only visible to the project owner.
2.6 Payment information
Payments for Premium subscriptions and project Sponsorships are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID to manage your subscription status. We never store raw card numbers or payment credentials.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To operate and display your founder profile and project listings
- To sync revenue data from connected payment providers on your behalf
- To provide listing analytics to project owners
- To process payments and manage Premium subscriptions
- To send transactional emails (account verification, receipts)
- To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following trusted third parties to operate TopShipped:
- Convex — our backend database and serverless functions provider. Data is stored on Convex infrastructure.
- Stripe — payment processing for Premium subscriptions and Sponsorships.
- Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
Each third party has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records related to payments).
Payment provider API keys are deleted immediately when you disconnect a provider from your project settings.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export your data in a portable format

7. Cookies
We use session cookies strictly necessary for authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from signing in.
8. Children
TopShipped is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of TopShipped after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
